Magnesium anodes are used for fresh water applications; for salt or brackish water use our zinc anodes or rods. All magnesium pencil anodes and rods contain a steel core. Unless otherwise noted, all rods are made to a standard anode grade of the following:
3% Aluminum, 0.2% Manganese, 1% Zinc, 95.8% Magnesium
Magnesium anodes shall conform to ASTM B 843 B 843 Grade M1C (latest edition). Anodes shall have a minimum open circuit potential of –1.70 volts referenced to Cu/CuSO4. Minimum acceptable current efficiency is 48%. Testing of these properties shall be in accordance with ASTM G97. These anodes shall be cast with a perforated galvanized steel core. The weight of the core shall not exceed 0.15 kg per metre. One end of the anode shall be recessed so that the core is accessible for the lead wire connection.

Magnesium anodes are available with several different chemical compositions, but in two basic generic types with voltage outputs of approximately1.55 and 1.75 volts (with reference to a copper/copper sulphate reference electrode). The performance characteristics for each type are indicated in Table 1. The following table of current outputs (Table 2) maybe utilised in general design calculations and is based upon the following parameters: i. The current outputs given are approximate only and are calculated taking the polarised potential of the cathode to be 900mV (with reference to a Cu/CuSO4reference electrode).ii. The maximum useful life of magnesium alloy anodes is generally limited to about 10/12 years regardless of the theoretical life. iii. The final steady current output is given in milli amps. Magnesium anode is mainly used for Anticorrosion of buried pipeline, onshore platform, huge boiler and steel structures. It is an important sacrificial anode for cathodic protection. We take the most professional and reasonable technical control through melting of Mg metal, choosing of Mg ingot and impurity, preparing of Mg alloy melt, refining of Mg alloy, pouring and casting of anode, making mould, connecting of cable and the final test . Accordingly, insure the electric chemical super performance of magnesium anode our products act with good potential and stable efficiency all the time.
